Sometimes a kick in the ass is what’s needed for people to get things done. This was definitely the case for guitarist Nikki Rausch and bass player Jeremy Goldfinch who, after countless false starts and abrupt finishes, abandoned attempts to join other people’s projects and set out to create what they considered the current music scene to be seriously lacking: damn good Rock n’ Roll. Nikki and Jeremy formed ‘Athena Serpentine’ shortly before the National Campus Band Competition with singer Selin and Drummer Alper, both of whom had gigged extensively in their native Turkey. The band combines their heavy yet melodic Rock with Selin’s gutsy, Sebastian Bach-influenced vocals and Alper’s powerful metal-inspired drumming. The band combines the Rock n’ Roll of Guns n’ Roses, the Epic of Whitesnake, the Badass of Avenged Sevenfold, the Musicality of Mr. Big, the Groove of the Chili Peppers, the Heavy of Black Label Society with the intention of creating a truly original music experience that contains more depth than the average garage rock band while still containing the catchiest hooks that and melodies that stay in your head for days.
